While I love makeup, I focus on my skincare even more. Through my countless hours of reading blogs and watching YouTube videos, I’ve learned a lot of helpful tips and tricks to prevent breakouts and thought I would share them. The first few might seem obvious, but the others might not be something you have thought about before.
Wash your face
This one might seem obvious, but so many people I talk to tell me they’re guilty of not regularly washing their faces and even not removing their makeup before bed. Also, soap and water alone aren’t enough. Regular soap can actually do more harm to your skin, so at the very least, I would recommend a cleanser and moisturizer to follow.
Avoid touching your face – especially when eating greasy foods
If you know me, you’ll know I tend to eat pizza with a fork and knife whenever possible. This is because I tend to find myself breaking out around my chin and mouth if the grease touches around my mouth. If I can’t avoid using my hands when eating something, like popcorn at the movie theater, I will make sure not to touch my face until I’ve washed my hands.
Wash your pillowcase often
If you think about the oils that naturally get on your pillowcase from your hair and skin, you will understand why you should be washing it frequently. Many recommend that you should either wash or switch it out for another every 1-2 weeks.
Clean your phone
We hold our phones up to our faces on a regular basis. Anything that our phone has been in contact with, whether it’s natural oils or something that got on it when we laid it down somewhere, is transferred to our skin. For this reason, I regularly clean my phone with a diluted alcohol solution to make sure that my skin won’t react to anything on it.
